Bristol Bites: Bin Collections and Best For Buy-to-let

From the Editor
You can imagine the frustration when a city council proposes to hike council tax rates while simultaneously cutting bin collections to once a month. Wait a minute… you need not imagine.
Most residents will be left wondering what exactly they are paying the council for in Bristol. Perhaps any tax rises will fund the increase in street sweepers after animals tear apart overflowing wheelie bins and students fly-tip into their neighbours’ front gardens. Of course, all manner of budget cuts can be gift-wrapped in the neat, pretty packaging of environmentalism and waste reduction.
In other news, Bristol remains an excellent medical science and technology hub. Researchers at the University of Bristol have designed a genetic test to identify high-risk kidney donors. Plus, the Drink Less app has been hailed as a great success in reducing alcohol consumption. Did you survive Dry January? There are still 12 hours left, but after all, it is Friday.
